The West Bengal Social Welfare Board was set up in the year 1954 implementing of various schematic programmes of Central Social Welfare Board, Govt. of India and Deptt. of Women and Child Development and Social Welfare, Govt. of West Bengal.
Central Social Welfare Board was the only national body after independence promoted voluntary sectors for the development of the underprivileged women & children of our country through its infrastructures i.e. 33 State Social Welfare Boards.
Since then, the West Bengal Social Welfare Board has been working steadily in the field of welfare of women & children in the state for six decades.
